Dhana Raj Markandu has over 20 years of leadership, engineering, project management and team development experience in the energy sector. He has held key technical and management positions at Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Malaysia Nuclear Power Corporation, with exposure to a diverse portfolio of electricity generation technologies. His career has spanned across a broad spectrum of roles that include training, consulting, public engagement, data analytics, research and policy development, as well as the construction, operations and maintenance of power plants.
Developing human capital has been an important responsibility for Dhana throughout his career and he is experienced in conducting a variety of both technical as well as soft skills training programs. He has an innate passion for sharing knowledge, unlocking potential and enabling collaborative upskilling. Dhana is a strong believer in experiential learning with a keen interest to design and deliver talent development programs that incorporate the LEGO® Serious Play® facilitation method, game-based learning or gamification techniques. He is the founder and principal trainer at Mindscape Training & Consultancy, where he continues his track record of engineering innovative solutions for learning and development.
Dhana is a certified trainer by the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) of Malaysia, a certified facilitator in the LEGO® Serious Play® method by the Association of Master Trainers and a registered mentor at FutureLab.my. He is also an advocate for energy literacy, sustainable energy and Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) education, and constantly seeks to explore inventive methods to promote awareness in these areas among adults and the youth.
Dhana graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from University College London under a scholarship from Tenaga Nasional Berhad. He also has a Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Edinburgh, funded by the Chevening Scholarship from the United Kingdom Government.
